Capcom, publisher of the Street Fighter and Resident Evil series, is still focused on developing new franchises. The company published a financial report and was asked about Capcom’s attempts to produce new franchises in a Q&A session.
“Creating new intellectual property is one of our priorities. We allocate about 20% of our investments each fiscal year to intellectual property and are constantly working on developing new property.”
The company didn’t introduce any new franchises in 2014. However, the financial report noted that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sold extremely well in Japan, shipping over two million units since its October release. The game will launch in Europe and North America early next year.
“Producing an immediate hit from new intellectual property is not our objective.”
Capcom’s latest original IP, PS4 exclusive action-RPG Deep Down, is currently in development. The game has been delayed in Japan. No release date has been announced.
