US President/COO: Nintendo must do “better job” communicating NX

Nintendo-E3-2016

Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime has acknowledged that Nintendo must “do better” in the NX’s launch than it did for the Wii U.

“We have to do a better job communicating the positioning for the product.

“We have to do a better job helping people to understand its uniqueness and what that means for the game playing experience.

“We have to do a better job from a software planning standpoint to have that continuous beat of great new games that are motivating more and more people to pick up the hardware and more and more people to pick up the software. Those are the critical lessons. You have to make sure people understand the concept, you have to make sure you’ve got a great library of games, and when you do that, you tend to do well.

“Nintendo has been in this video game business [for] over 30 years. We have a rich legacy of wonderful IP. Those are strengths that we have that our competitors don’t, and so leveraging those strengths as we drive our business forward is going to be critically important.”

XBLA GoldenEye remaster footage emerges

YouTube channel RareThief has obtained new footage of a GoldenEye 007 remake for the Xbox Live Arcade that was halted due to copyright issues.

The video shows upgraded visuals, with the ability to toggle between the new graphics and graphics from the original Nintendo 64 game. Additionally, Rare intended to crank up the frame rate to 60 frames per second.

Three new multiplayer levels were also included: Dam, Depot, and Frigate. In the menu, the video shows the ability to level all character’s heights.

Pokemon Go updated with Pokemon Appraisal

Pokemon Go’s team leaders are now getting actual roles in the game through Pokemon Appraisal.

Alongside other bug fixes, Android version 0.35.0 and iOS version 1.5.0 of the mobile smash hit adds the Appraisal feature.

It lets you see your team’s leader (go Team Mystic) hinting at (but not explicitly showing) the potential attack and defense of a chosen monster, letting players know which are best suited to further leveling.

Like the core Pokemon games, each Pokemon has a set of hidden attributes that determines their stat ceiling. Appraisal lets players who want to take on stronger gyms prioritize their best Pokemon.
