CBS greenlights Candy Crush game show

CBS has greenlit Candy Crush, a game show inspired by the wildly successful match-three puzzle game franchise.

The hour-long show will pit teams of two against each other to “use their wits and physical agility … on enormous, interactive game boards featuring next generation technology,” according to the network.

The show’s executive produced by Matt Kunitz, who served the same role on shows like Fear Factor and Wipeout. According to CBS, the host will be announced at a later time.

“The Candy Crush franchise lends itself perfectly to the kind of larger-than-life, physical game shows that I love to produce and CBS is the perfect home for it. As a Candy Crush Saga player myself, I am excited to amp up the action and visuals in our huge Candy Crush Arena.”

According to CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller, Candy Crush viewers will be able to “play along at home.” CBS is working with Lionsgate Television, Pulse Creative, and Candy Crush developer King on the show.
