Pokemon Sun and Moon final starter evolutions revealed

The Pokemon Company has released a new trailer for Pokemon Sun and Moon, revealing new details about its upcoming pair of 3DS games, including the final evolutions for the three starting Pokemon.

Decidueye, Incineroar, and Primarina are the final evolutions of grass-type Rowlet, fire-type Litten, and water-type Popplio, respectively. Decidueye is a grass and ghost type, Incineroar’s a fire and dark type, and Primarina is a water and fairy type.

Three remaining guardian deities were also revealed in the trailer that protect the Alola region and join the previously revealed Tapu Kobo, who watches over Melemele Island. Tapu Lele is the psychic and fairy type guardian of Akala Island, Tapu Bulu is the grass and fairy-type guardian of Ula’Ula Island, and Tapu Fini is the water and fairy type guardian of Poni Island.

A couple of other new Pokemon were officially revealed, including new psychic Pokemon Cosmog and the Alolan form of Persian.

Finally, the trailer also reveals that players will be able to “witness the beginning of the Alolan Pokemon League” in Sun and Moon, as well as battle with and suggest a number of famous trainers from prior Pokemon games, including Cynthia from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, and Red and Blue from the last generation of games.

In a presentation Wednesday night, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima revealed that the Pokemon Sun and Moon demo, released on the 3DS eShop Oct. 18, was downloaded 3.5 million times. Kimishima called it the fastest start for any demo in the history of the 3DS.

Final Fantasy 15 getting multiplayer mode as DLC

Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy 15’s final piece of DLC will be an online, four-player, co-op multiplayer expansion called Comrades. It’ll be released after an item pack, a Holiday Pack, and three Episode expansions featuring each non-playable member of the game’s core party, the Comrades pack will be released.

“When we’ve released each of those three [character] episodes, and made each of the three characters playable, we’re going to bring back [lead character] Noctis from the main game, and then add the multiplayer expansion pack which allows you to play as all of them together in new types of only adventures.”

-Haruyoshi Sawatari, Final Fantasy 15 DLC director

There are some implications that Comrades will be set outside the main game world, as Sawatari explained:

“The stories we’re telling through the DLC are going to be linked closely to the main game’s story, but they’re things that we feel we could only really do within DLC. It couldn’t have been part of the main game at all. So the kind of gameplay experiences that we’re delivering, and the kind of stories that we’re telling really wouldn’t have been possible within the game of XV. It has to be slightly removed in order to do that.”

-Haruyoshi Sawatari

Final Fantasy 15 launches Nov. 29 worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Bethesda no longer giving early review copies

Bethesda Softworks, publisher of Skyrim, Fallout, Doom, and other franchises, will no longer provide advance review copies to the media any earlier than one day before release.

“While we will continue to work with media, streamers, and YouTubers to support their coverage – both before and after release – we want everyone, including those in the media, to experience our games at the same time.”

-Bethesda Softworks, in a blog post

This basically ensures that reviews won’t be published in times for players to reference when making their purchasing decisions on release day.

“We also understand that some of you want to read reviews before you make your decision, and if that’s the case we encourage you to wait for your favorite reviewers to share their thoughts.”

-Bethesda Softworks
